No, seriously. I am never going to get any exam revision done because of the one thing I cannot resist: Facebook. Yes, the stupidly addictive social networking site. Joining Groups, commenting on Photos, tagging people in Photos, writing Notes; where do the temptations stop?!

On a completely unrelated note, I got a pack of 12 (9B to H) Derwent graphic sketching pencils.

Okay, so imagine me at Coles: innocently shopping in the Medicine/Cosmetics/Personal Care aisle for hair removal cream for me and Herbal Essences shampoo for my mother. Then, bam! This guy appears out of nowhere and picks a bottle of deodorant from the shelf, proceeding to shove it in my face for me to smell. “Smells nice,” he convinces me. “Yup,” I say. (Well, what else is there to say?)

As if that wasn’t weird enough! After this incident, he follows me to the corner of the dairy aisle and the confectionery aisle, and he picks off a bag full of lollies and shoves this in my face as well. “Yummy!” he exclaims. “Yup,” I say…

It has occurred to me that my parents think I have an eating disorder, because I do not enjoy eating particular Indonesian foods that they cook for me. I also follow quite a different eating pattern to them; for example, I eat lunch at 12pm to 1pm, while my parents can still hold out until 3pm or perhaps even as late as 4pm.

So I eat earlier than them – they don’t find anything wrong with that – but when it’s time for them to eat, they ask me why I’m not eating with them. “I’m full, I reply,” refusing the plate chock full of food they place in my face. “What did you eat that made you full?!” they ask, “A foccacia does not fill you up!” They then proceed to try and force feed me, despite my honest to heaven claims that I am full.

If I tell you I’m full, people, I’m full! I don’t need you hackin’ asking me if I’m hungry every two minutes! Stupid control freaks…

Lord of relationships

I don’t know what Guitar Hero has to do with relationships, but apparently it is supposed to educate us Year Nines in that area of expertise, as well watching Mean Girls, Gossip Girl, and Freaky Friday. Interesting, huh?!

Back to school again, and back to the hustle and bustle that are classes, homework, extra-curricular activities and studies… And, as usual, the most homework I get comes from my elective subjects. It is actually a very sad fact that I have been bombarded with Japanese and French homework, first lesson back.

I’m not implying that it is Christmas. No, far from that. In fact, the truth is, “Ho ho” is a shortened form of the words “holiday homework”. I know right? Shudder at the thought! I have not given in to the temptation, however. In fact, I haven’t even started, and I go back to school next Monday! Neither have I done any exam study.

I think I’m becoming a little too overconfident. Either that or I’m seriously beginning to doubt the statement I made to one of my friends earlier today. (“I’m not addicted to Facebook!”)

Manifest 2008

Because we both love anime and all, and we’d never been to an anime convention before, me and Samantha decided we’d go to Manifest at Melbourne Uni. We decided this about a week ago, and at that time the pre-registration was already closed, so we decided to get On-The-Day passes. So we show up yesterday (so ready), Samantha, and her brother (in cosplay!) and her mother and I, and wait in line, at 10.30am, which is when registration is supposed to start. And lo and behold! The line was three blocks long.

It was 45 minutes into the long wait when Samantha’s mother asked if we really did want to wait for our passes, or if we wanted to leave the line and just take pictures. Me and Samantha really wanted to see the cosplay competition and buy stuff at the Trades Hall, so we decided to wait it out.

Three hours later, we were still waiting… but then a man comes out of nowhere and announces that they’ve run out of Saturday passes! What?! Me and Samantha were so bummed out, and soo angry, because we couldn’t have come again today because Samantha had plans, and I had plans too…

But we still learnt from our experiences, and met a lot of really cool cosplayers! Like a Hard Gay guy, who was doing a Hard Gay walk, and an old man who was cosplaying Haruhi Suzumiya (that was really disturbing), and saw people with really extravagant costumes. Next year, next year, we will be so prepared it won’t even be funny.

I went to the Tesselaar Tulip Festival yesterday. On the way, we found a little nook packed with antique and opportunity shops, and naturally went shopping. Yay! Bargains galore. Back to the festival: it was generally pretty fun and packed full of good Dutch food, Dutch culture and Dutch costumes (and cute Dutch boys – I wanted to take one home). And who could forget?

The pretty flowers! Me and my parents took lots of pictures and ate lots of poffertjes (they’re little Dutch pancakes, and they taste divine). I also joined in some Dutch folk dancing! There was a giant congo line, which kept breaking up because the person in front of me was twice my height. And then along comes Melbourne weather, creeping up silently upon the innocent.

Woe for us; it rained!

I.T. services woes

This is a message to all you I.T. Services guys at my school. Yes, you. Get off your freaking bouncy-ball chairs, stop eating takeway near the computers you’re fixing, and please go back to computer school, or wherever you people went to to earn those cheap photocopy certificates, because I’m not happy right now.

Trying to install a program – you must be an Administrator to perform this. Trying to save a Word document – you must be an Administrator to perform this. Trying to access C drive, for Pete’s sake – you must be an Administrator to perform this. Bloody idiots, give me my bloody Administrator priveleges!

Be careful what you wish for, or you might just get what you wanted.

In my case, I definitely did get what I wanted, but not in the way I was expecting! See, I wished that I would get sick just before the journey (it’s like a camp thing, but we have to plan it mostly by ourselves) so I didn’t have to go, and I did (or else I would be on the journey instead of typing this)! I was expecting to catch the flu or something sooner or later because my parents’ve had it, and I hadn’t yet – instead, I had a bogus allergic reaction to an unknown substance and I was swollen, puffy, itchy and red for the whole weekend. I’m having a blood test done to determine the source of this itchy hell…
